New to the group - Dave aka Cupsta RVR with CLUTCH gone

Hi all,

A couple of years back I purchased an RVR - 1996 Petrol, Roo bar, yellow spotties, Two tone Red / Silver, 5 speed manual

I have had a lot of fun driving this as a second car and recently when my son got his licence he became the custodian of the RVR after spending much of his practise time learning how to drive at the wheel of this car.

He has used it for about 8 months until the clutch pedal dropped to the floor and for a while he continued to drive it despite having to bend down and physically pull the pedal up in order to then depress the clutch and change gears. Finally it gave way all together and on a hot day in January he and a mate had to get the RAc to tow the car as the clutch no longer engaged and the car was not drivable any longer.

I would like to know if there is anyone on the forum who might be able to advise me of the best way to get it repaired - I.e BEST = CHEAPEST and for a mechanical moron like me - EASIEST.

I have been advised that I will need to purchase a new slave cylinder and the mobile mechanic I have been speaking to about the issue suggested that I also get a new Master cylinder and have him put them in.

IS that all I need - or is there more parts ??? as I have noted on looking at online stores and clutch suppliers that there are also complete clutch kits available and these are different to the slave AND master that I was informed was the real NEED TO Replace bits .....

Anyone who has done this ? and could perhaps lend a hand or advise me / as I dont want to have the car parked up for good as Its way too much fun and a very practical car for many reasons.

Any suggestions or advice would be very greatly appreciated and I look forwrad to hearing from the Mitsi mob about the best way to make this happen.

regards
