#264217 4 stud to 5 stud

Posted by JayRome on 07 October 2012 - 12:32 PM

the GTO calipers and disc's are my choice... (just cause they actually say Mitsubishi not a sticker that says Brembo, and they came free on my GTO wreck :P) using adaptor plates from the US, with TR magna front hubs..

although going twin piston rears will be interesting for our cars, as we dont use a inner brake drum, you would have to convert to evo rear end brake caliper set up....

Rim choice will be interesting, 5 stud is convenient, but spoke design is the biggest issue..

17X9.5 +22 and the spokes just clear by 3mm, no spacers..

also why your at it, might as well go to stainless steel brake lines...

#262667 little batteries pc680 dry cell

Posted by JayRome on 14 September 2012 - 12:33 PM

is it really needed to go this small of a battery?

fair enough if you are saving weight and tracking the car... but for everyday use.. your alarm would most likely drain something too small....

your alternator will hate you if you had anything more then stock audio and this tiny battery..

Well its obvious that YOU have as quoted above are personally attached on your response to this thread... Maybe you should read your post//from personal experience , uncontrolled emotionally-driven outbursts/public forums ,
prior to this response we have done nothing of the sort but shared common interest in dealing with mechanics.. : this is what forums are for , therefore it is all above ground.
Im sure if you spent over $25,000 dollars on a car and are waiting nearly 2 years you would be wanting answers on why these so called proffesional mechanics are taking you for a ride...

easy bro, his just doin his job as a moderator and a member of this forum....

and i see you obviously have not seen his car and how much $$$$$$$$$$ has gone into it... id do some research before cracking it at a long time respected member of this forum....

#224425 4G63 High Volume oil pump question

Posted by JayRome on 17 February 2011 - 03:29 AM

hi

found this HIGH VOLUME oil pump for 4G63's

http://www.importper...pumpsmitsu.html

now the question is, when the balance shafts are removed, that will increase the oil pressure...

so when coupled with a high volume oil pump, what would happen?

would the pressure be too much?
would it start leaking oi from seals because of excessive oil pressure?

or is this whole "high volume" thing a hoax?

yes when the balance shafts are removed, the oil pressure does rise but not enough to really care as much...

if you have a new engine and seals etc, there should be no leaking of any point from the increase of pressure.
the engine should handle an easy 100psi worth of oil pressure before it will start forcing oil out of seals..

some people do port the press reg when they delete balance shafts, but in stock form the extra pressure wont hurt

NA engines have 2 points on the engine at which the oil pressure is regulated, on the head and at the oil pump housing
Turbo engine have the pressure regulator on the oil pump housing only..

our engines dont really need high volume pumps, the stock pump is more then plenty to feed even a massive turbo attached to the engine.. (so long as tolerances in the pump are still tight)
