#342006 Will I be banished from the 4G site??

Posted by OLDIE on 06 October 2018 - 08:55 PM

Well since my JB Starion has a new owner and now that a red 2011 Honda FN2 Type R with a Torsen LSD has taken over track day duties am wondering if I will be sent to Coventry :(

Seeing that I am possibly in the running to be named as the oldest rev head on the forums I thought that I should explain myself why I changed camps.

Was finding it quite hard getting down under and back up to do the tinkering that is needed with an  old modified turbo car and wanted features like air con plus safety features like ABS ,Stability control etc to help keep me safer behind the wheel so that I can enter and compete in events for hopefully a few more years.

I bet that was a sad goodbye mate. I'm sure the new owner will treat the Starion with the love and adoration that you did.

He said that he thought that he was stealing it from me.

He intends to enter it in some events so hopefully I will get to see the old girl from time 2 time.

Thanks JBN But I don't get enough wheel time to get muych  closer to the well driven S15 of Trent Lavers but managed to pip 2 drivers in another S15 so got to be happy with that.

The 4.22 diff fitted by DANTRANS certainly makes the car feel a bit more lively.

Well I rocked up to the IWMAC dirt sprints to man my usual flag point only to be told by a few people who were at the Oakey Sptints presentation Sunday arvo that I had won 3rd in class and there is a trophy for me so will contact the organizers to have them post it.

I guess that will lessen the pain of a broken diff a little.

#335574 Single Scroll vs Twin Scroll Turbine Housing - Dyno Comparison

Posted by OLDIE on 05 February 2017 - 01:27 AM

FWIW here is the dyno sheet with before/after results.

The manifold is a divided equal length with an ext gate fed from both sides with the gasses kept apart till app 5 mm from the gate and had a bush bearing 3582 with a AR63 turbine and a 11blade billet comp wheel.

The new turbo is a Garrett 3078R with a TS AR82 turbine. the tuning was done by my trusted tuner Rob Chapman both times so same dyno, tuner and max pressure.

PS I know that 2 gates is considered the best way to go BUT one must live within their means so please no flaming on my single gate set up..

#335147 Faulty rev counter help needed

Posted by OLDIE on 07 January 2017 - 08:30 PM

I have an MSD tach adapter if that makes any difference as the factory tach sender must have been made redundant when the car was set up to run the Haltec?.

PS have been 4 a drive and it seemed ok 4 app 5klm'sthen went wonky on me and seemed ok again so popped the bonnet and pulled 1 connection that may be part of the shift light connection and no tacho plugged in again and working again so got home and cleaned the connector with a cleaner and then crc/rp7 and together again.

The ecliptech shift light does silly things when the tacho plays up but not when everythings ok. Hopefully problem solved ??

#334850 Chapmans dyno tuning Cooroy

Posted by OLDIE on 14 December 2016 - 07:55 PM

Rob discovered that 1 of the NEW injectors that I installed at his shop was faulty and after removing and after being  tested in Nambour they were sent back to the supplier at their request so they could see for themselves they replaced the faulty one.

This meant that Robs original  cost estimate was increased by $299.00

.

I contacted the supplier INJECTORS ON LINE and sent them a copy of the invoice and they have agreed to reimburse me the additional costs in full.

So if any of you need injectors then INJECTORS ON LINE is my recommendation as based on my experience they are a very reputable company.

Got the Starion back a few days ago and am very happy with the tune after downsizing to a TS GT3076R  and the power at the wheels increased by app 100 hp at the tyres @4000revs but loses app 28 hp after 5000 the car will be better suited to the street sprints that have tight corners and chicanes as it is so much more responsive and I need to be careful feeding in the power out of corners  more so now.Fuel is BP Ultimate 98ron

Thanks Rob can't wipe the smile off my face.
