Damn man.
I hate the smell when you let the magic smoke out of electronics. :(
Don't pay too much attention to the illustration except the pinout, I think the picture is of a footwell of a US DSM, and don't use an incandescant bulb to retrieve the codes.
Good luck man, let us know how things progress.
PM me if you need help. I have an LED test light that makes doing this a piece of piss and also a datalogger if you need.

Ask rob323....

Apparently the cartridge is crap but they are good for the exhaust housing and comp cover lol. :P

#183575 RS or AYC

Posted by MDK87 on 22 January 2010 - 01:00 PM

Oh is that all you need?
That's not so bad then I guess..

I thought you would've needed a control module, G-sensors etc

Does the loom plug into the Engine ECM dougmo?
I'm still not sure really how AYC works. So I guess I should stop posting here for starters (!) haha but let us know how you go with it all mate. :)

thanks for ur help mate... im am currently doin the 4wd conversion. and the rear is my concern at ther moment... the car will be used for mainly weekend cruiser, but quarter mile car also... agian mate thanks for ur help. much appreciated.

Isn't the AYC system controlled electronically?
So like Missile said, having an AYC equipped rear end won't be much good to you without he rest of the system will it?
Esp over the benefits of the RS one, if it has what Missile said it has.

#181481 Harmonic Balancer replacment

Posted by MDK87 on 12 January 2010 - 10:03 AM

I dunno about 93T ones but the stock balancer for the 63T has a vulcanised rubber insert that eventually perishes.

I ended up getting my pulley off too, I just made another tool with stronger angle iron. :)

#179017 Harmonic Balancer replacment

Lol, gently thrash. Two very contradicting words there Tim. haha

I don't wanna steal this thread, but does anyone know how to take off the sprocket pulley thing behind the harmonic balancer?
The one that the timing belt runs on.
On alll the 4G63's I've pulled apart so far, they have almost fallen off, but the one I'm working on now is being a real prick. I made up my own tool to remove it using two of the bolts that hold the balancer, but instead my tool made out of mild steel flat bar just bent instead!
Everytime I go into the garage I remember why I stopped working on it lol, so I soak it a bit more in WD-40 and walk out lol. Procrastination doesn't stop with the books I guess. :P
I fear that maybe the keyway has somehow lodged itself in an awkward position and is holding the pulley on the crank.

So as to not hijack blackers thread if anyone would like to PM me I would greatly appreciate it. :)

#176332 Running on two cylinders?

Posted by MDK87 on 09 December 2009 - 02:15 AM

I could hear it when Mico reversed it away from the tow truck... it was "pinging " heavily as the flame in one cylinder lit up the one next to it ( at the wrong time !!). Disabling the spark, and a quick "audio comp test " almost convinced me that I was wasting my timing getting my comp tester out

Geez you're a smart man Mike. I won't even ask... haha
