Really got me and terry stuffed, drove it and parked it up and was fine, go to drive it and now seems to be stuck in a high gear.
Anyway ill try make it over for beers if not ill be on the cruise,

with the triton.....have you tried disconnecting the tail shaft to make sure its not a case of transfer case wind up?

its stuck in gear Brian, you can select, i think 1st and and 3rd (maybe 2nd and 4th) but you cant get it into netural.

once moving, i.e. riding the clutch its just normal AFAIK.

when in neutral according to the gear leaver, its still in gear. you cant start it unless the clutch is in.

i am fairly sure its broken a selector fork. but i have been wrong many times before.

what model is it?

If its an mj or earlier they had the old old canter 5 speed box....there is a nut on the end of one of the shafts which has a washer that folds over it to hold the nut in place....stupid mitsubishi. the tab breaks off the washer and hey presto nut unwinds allowing the gears to take a walk.

can be quite sudden too.....usually a disaster inside

Its not mine its my girfriends dads.
Borrowed it for 3 wks while fixing my car, gave it back to him and a week later borrowed it agin, drove it home so soft, jump in it later that night and got the symptoms like me and craing said.
So not my fault but gotta fix it out of principle.



Checked it its a 9/ 91 modle.
Its 5 speed g'box and petrol. 4WD model.
Plate says engine is a 4G54
transaxle V5M21 4625
