Hi all, my rvr hsgr’s clutch is slipping at above 3000rpm thru out 1st-5th gears after putting in new clutch/flywheel. Originally has hks twin plate clutch kit, now it has been change to oem evo 3 flywheel, exedy clutch disc, pressure plate, new throw out bearing, and stock fork.

During securing the two bolts for the clutch slave cylinder, I notice the pushrod is already pressing hard on the clutch fork pressing the throw out bearing against the clutch pressure plate fingers. I had to some how jam it in, and secure the 2 bolts slowly for the clutch slave cylinder. Basically there’s no play between TB and pressure plate fingers.

From the above, could it be the incorrect clutch slave cylinder is used (longer pushrod) as in this will result in not enough clamping strength on the clutch disc? This clutch slave cylinder was used on a twin plate clutch kit, so not sure is there different rod lengths apply here for both aftermarket and oem clutches.

There is no oil contamination on the clutch disc, and slight surface rust on the oem flywheel. Not sure will shorten the pushrod can resolve the issue.

Did you adjust the clutch when you put it in? i.e. check pedal freethrow, clutch master etc.

Sounds like you need to back the clutch master off a little on the pedal...

Agreed with above. 12mm locking nut on the push rod to master. And the pin goes in One Direction only.
GSR Lancer- JE-73-VO, 11.701@125mph, 1.79 60" and getting faster. No:3 conrod now orbiting the moon.

+1 ^. I replaced a perfectly good slipping clutch only to find that I needed adjustment on the pedal.... grrrr.

Before you adjust the pedal

Crack the bleed nipple to see if the piston retracts. It may have shit behind the piston preventing full return. If it doesn’t the change the slave. If it does then adjust pedal as the return port on the master cyl is covered in the current position

BRIAN
Black evo 1 full road rego and done properly/legally

I have heaps of parts...but never the one I need.

Look like its a custom metal rod has been used with the previous hks clutch kit.

I end up shorten the master slave cylinder's rod by 15mm, problem solved.
