I'm in the process of putting back the rod caps (using arp2000 3/8" bolts) and head block on my 4g93 (using arp head stud kit 203-4204). Is there a general procedure that I should be following torque them down to spec?

-arp2000 3/8" bolts torque to 40ft lbs, 15 - 30 - 40?

-Head studs kit has an instruction manual said to torque down to 60ft lbs, can I torque all bolts in the following order 20 - 40 - 60 and as per attached image?

-Do I need to do any cycles of torquing and loosening the new head studs or this just apply to the 4g63?

Wae.

I followed their steps, 20, 40, 60 but then pushed them to 74ftlb or 100nm.

not sure how much they can take... we'll see. ;)

Head gasket may be a monotorque, but I always recheck them for tightness after a few heat cycles.

you've stretched those studs if you wanted more you should have got the custom AGE ones that get torqued to 80ft/lb

but your torque sequence is fine
jack the reason they say do them in steps is to prevent warping or twisting the head as if you went straight up to the 60 ft/lb you may get distortion in the head as the gasket crushes down.

I know that kyle.

I do them up in steps, and I recheck them for correct tension after running engine. I don't care if the head gasket says that you don't need to check them. I do

well is that's the case then I would stay away from them as the factory bolt could take more. I could consistently torque the factory bolt to 100nm without going into the plastic deformation region. 110nm would stretch the bolt though so i gather the factory install process goes beyond this. yes the bolt and stud carries load differently but i thought that falls in favor of the stud....

ARP will go surprisingly far before they will stretch. Brisvr4 pushed his out to 110nm and they are holding on for 11s passes. But listen to Kyle he gets results..... Lol

i'd like to know in what world 171 awkw is 8kw more than 138 FWKW. thats altready 40kw more and with more drive line losses.

but sure don't listen to me i called arp about the torque specs and they specifically said why they arn't reated any higher it's because over that torque spec you enter into the studs yeild area where they can stretch and loose clamping force its also why my head gasket blew. but sure i know nothing. i've only already been there and had that fail.

Sorry Einstein...but I did post you had a spectacular result I cant quite recall the exact amount seeing as all your picture links were dead...but I do recall it not being anything special for the dollars you had spent.
