I have a 1994 SG (non-turbo) in the shed and it is definitely a 7 bolt, however it had a CAS with a black cap on it located on the gearbox end of the head much like an evo 3.

Ignore the fact that it's got the turbo stuff on it, this was just a test fit. This is what the SG cas looks like
This is another pic showing the CAS as well as the front transaxle/engine mount that attaches to the gearbox on a 7 bolt engine and not the engine like it does on a 6 bolt.
You need to do these checks to confirm for yourself what you have, while you are under there you can check for the bump in the oil pan, and if you are still in doubt rip the f$%king thing out count the flywheel bolts
