I have a 1994 Mitsubishi RVR Super Sports Gear N23W, and I'm chasing some aftermarket parts for it, and I've come to the conclusion that I'm not sure whether it is a 1G or 2G, I know in 1994 they are supposed to still be a 1G but I just want to be sure so I was wondering if there was anyway to double check?

Cheers in Advance.

Havent we been through this?
If its a 7bolt its a 2g.

its not a 6bolt so its not a 1g. Simples.

you may have issues with finding a cas and cps. Depending on engine, if you have a cas on gearbox end of head or not.

I was going to say same Jack. I guess the confusion lies with some 1g DSM's being 7 bolt and the 2g was released in the DSM market in 1995.
However, all RVR's are 2g for certain. If old mate really wants to confirm for himself - the 2g has a Crankshaft Position Sensor (located oil pump housing) and the 1g does not.

Im not sure that applies to all rvr. Some certainly have the crank mounted cas. But im sure some have the std setup in the head.
He has a sump pic in the other thread showing its a 7bolt.

  • LocationThe home of unemployed bogans - Hervey bay,

I have a 1994 SG (non-turbo) in the shed and it is definitely a 7 bolt, however it had a CAS with a black cap on it located on the gearbox end of the head much like an evo 3.

Here are some pics that will help you ID the engine

Ignore the fact that it's got the turbo stuff on it, this was just a test fit. This is what the SG cas looks like

SG CAS.jpg

This is another pic showing the CAS as well as the front transaxle/engine mount that attaches to the gearbox on a 7 bolt engine and not the engine like it does on a 6 bolt.

You need to do these checks to confirm for yourself what you have, while you are under there you can check for the bump in the oil pan, and if you are still in doubt rip the f$%king thing out count the flywheel bolts :P

The circle of bruised assholes is not a group i have had much inclination to join. Leave you and them, the toothless combs and garden gnomes to their own i reckon.
so if a busted 7bolt gets you membership, that would make you nearly the founding member?

All good Edy, I'm sure you got your answer. Just sit back and watch the show brother, lol.
The RVR's can be a bit if a mixed bag mate, so sometimes you might feel a bit of a tool with questions. If you are concerned about that you could always just PM an RVR member.
However if you like pseudo gay jokes and sexual tension from other members just post it!!! Ha ha ha...

Jack... That! Coming from the bloke that kidnaped my cat had your way with it... Then just sold it into sexual slavery to a Russian madam. Just shows that six bolt owners are perverts and weirdos.
