OK, so I bought an evo 3 ecu with ECMlink, these ecus are a plug and play for HSG models as per Ian's RVR.

I cannot connect ECMlink! I have tried and/or fixed the following - cable drivers, ECMlink updates, checked com ports and turned off emulation blah blah blah. I've searched everywhere for any reference to an RVR on the ECMlink forums, nothing........the pin outs are different for 2g so the usual checks and remedies don't work. I have studied the evo 3 pin outs and they are identical to HSG wiring so that can be eliminated.

The only thing I have come up against is not getting ~5v on pin 1 of the obd2 port, this can occasionally lead to connection issues apparently. I'm getting just under 2v

Has anyone come up against this particular issue before?

If pin 1 on the obd2 port is not getting 5v or above, what causes it and where should I start looking?

Can I get the 5v from pin61, which supplies TPS and AFM?

Is pin 1 on an RVR obd2 port supposed carry 5v?

Could it be a cable issue? The LED flashes 3 times after connecting to USB, not sure if it's supposed to do this or stay lit. Again, not much info on this about the place, rest assured I'll be posting up everything about this if I can get it fixed.

I've waited over a month for this cable and I'll be apocalyptically angry if it's a dud.

The ECMlink forum is pretty good, the light does just flicker when connected to indicate windows acknowledges it, so all clear there.

I'm going to try to rewire the obd2 port tomorrow, I would do it tonight but I'd probably end up making some sort of nuclear powered screwdriver or something.......... I've had waaaaaay too much home brew scotch to be of any positive influence to humanity at this point.

From the intel I've gathered I might have to send the entire ECU and cable to the states to get a firmware update due to it being over 18 months since it's been connected....................I'm going to put a blank check in the swear jar right now.

On the plug c22 pin 1 and 7 go to ecu pins 42 and 43, unsure on ecm link or evo 3 ecu's, but im sure they used the same,
I know with evo 7 ecu that the other plug (c23-pin26) draws 5v from pin 79 on the ecu, maybe see if ya have the 12 pin female around the obd then you'll just need to see which pin on the obd plug ecm use and repin it in its new place??

Yeah man, I'm a bee's dick away from burning it and going for Haltech. USA is too far away for decent hardware support, not to mention the thorough arse raping you get from the exchange rate

I think some of the problem is that the software gets updated which can affect connection, but to get a firmware update you must first create a request from the ECU................which needs to have a connection to do so

Could you plug the chip into someones working ecu to get the request? Prolly not as it needs the chip to request update.

Hmmm. Not sure

I have had issues with the cables.....they just die....seems for no reason. There is a youtube vieo of one guy saying the same thing. He pressed on the little box in the middle with the light and the connection went ahead....took his finger off and no connection

The evo 3 only has 72 connections. I put a multi meter on it all today and come up with the following:

OBD pin 1 --- ECU pin 43 -

OBD pin 7 --- ECU pin 42

OBD pin 4 --- ECU pin 62

OBD pin 5 --- ECU pin 51

OBD pin 16 - un-switched power

OBD pins 11 & 12 have no continuity to any pins on the ECU.

This is doing my head in

I dont think a tantrix will talk to ecmlink. I think it needs the link cable.
