Just wanting to get some feedback as I have both, (and a few EPROM ones waiting for socketing)

I am planning on running nitrous to spool up with the auto box, ECMlink has Nitrous control, I'm not sure what features the VI ecu has (apart from dual maps)

Thoughts?

You need ecmlink full for nitrous/programmable outputs.
And full is not available on evo1-3 or rvr ecu.

Download merlin guide on the late evo ecu to see what they can do.

Evo 6 ecu is the way to....speaking from experience here.
Just get a momo F1 steering wheel with the horn buttons on each spoke and use on of them as the nitrous switch?

7-8 have the capability of running a flex fuel setup...Unfortunately 5/6 cant.
Thats one difference I know of.

Dual maps, anti lag, I/c spray cont. and I read some where that the 6's have a 16 bit board an they run start struggling with too much boost?? ill try an find it again
I think to start off the 7 onwards were the first ecu's to be fully opened up/ cracked

The merlin guides start at 7-8. I think these have had the most work done on them.
Merlin is a aussie guy too. I think he is adelaide or Melbourne.

Pretty sure he knows those functions.
What do you say is classed as too much boost for an e6 ecu? Im running a fair bit with mine no dramas.

You rescale the airflow to be able to run more boost. Till the afm goes out of range. The 482 and 339 flow more than the 5-6 afm but you can run the others anyway. Then sd after that.

With the ecmlink, it just runs off the end of the airflow table and uses the last afr box after that. I would think the e6 would be similar. I think I see the 1800htz for afm but it scales a fair way past that, maybe to 3000htz. Thats pumping a heap of air...must be a lot of powaa. Does my head in thinking about it. Bloody impressive engines a lot of you guys have.

Ooh, I got one.
I dont think the 5-6 has dual speed fuel pump. The 7-8 does.
What about rad fans, I think the 7-8 has a pwm fan- or variable or soft start whatever we call it.

Sorry man, probably worded abit wrong, meant with the afm an that ya start to lose efficiency cos ya start having to trick them,
as jack said sd after that, most people tend to go sd before they hit those issues
I only went with the 7 ecu cos theres alot of info out there, plus cheaper than a haltec an I doubt ill be pushing the 7 ecu past its capabilities any time soon

I went sd straight away..fuck the afm.
I'm using an FP 4 " intake off my turbos 4" snout so would of had to neck it down to use an afm which would of choked it...

Not at the moment...thinking of getting one for 98 octane....for those times when e85 is difficult to plan a trip around.
