i have a vzr1800 coming in next day or so. Its been rattlecanned. Be nice if it comes off easy. Maybe they used plastidip. Google m109r for what they are. I dont like the headlight or tail, so they might be getting worked on.

Hi all, I haven't been doing much on the Ute, just driving it. But, engines never fix themselves and the smoking on boost ended in a steam train impression even on cruise. I couldn't drive it without being able to see a trail of smoke behind it.
So I pulled engine and converted to a na sonata 2.0 its in and going with minimal costs, but lots of time.

Nothing special, check the twin afm's!

Ecmlink will fix the 449 AFM. Running the evo injectors and 46psi na regulator. Has a Ali flywheel and patched the 3in exhaust onto the sonata twin pipes at front of the sump.

Really I need to get rid of the Hyundai sparks cover, not sure if there are proton ones available. Lol.

I paid about $50 for the engine ages ago, and after a valve lapping it has come up with 200psi compression test on all cylinders.
The vr4 style mount was meant to be modified to suit a cc lancer, however it was poop. I redid it.
Also after putting it in, the water pump bearings were shot, so I have pulled front of the engine and replaced that.
Sure is nice having a hoist inside the house...

M109r is going good. What a brute! New tyres are on the way, a 250/40/18 on the back. Its a 8½" rear rim.

It is a step towards the 2.4

But it was faster on 3 turbo cylinders than 4 na ones.
And it farts. Sounds shit.

I was going to run low boost on the na engine, but decided it wasn't worth it.

Perhaps I should have gambled on a 93t, but I wanted to use some of the bits I have rather than get more junk.

Anyway, not that happy with it at present. But its better than a push bike.

I was excited before, but that lasted until I grabbed 2nd gear.

Its like a v6 commobore with twin exhaust. Or a Harley...lots of noise and thats about it.

It would be totally worth running a stock turbo setup on the NA engine :) 7/8PSI on a TD05 14/16 would make it hoot along!

Hoping to stop the farting noise from the dynamax cannon. Had this Varex out the back forever, good to finally get it in.
The welds aren't up to show quality, but they will hold fine. Its not weld splatter, its the plastic protective cover on the mandrel that I wire brushed off.

I have made the motor spin and shut the fart doors in the muffler. This one shuts fast, maybe 1 sec or so, I thought they were a bit slower than that. Anyway, the muffler is not connected, just shut for now.
