you can use the fittings from a leak down tester and pressurise the cylinder. care needs to be taken as its possible to overcome the pressure and the valves might drop anyway. they usually don't drop in the cylinder as the valves only move 10mm or so, so past that they generally get a bit sticky on the valve stem seal.

take note... 6am start just to work on the car.
good stuff, that's how you get sh1t done!

So..

Today was an interesting and productive day..

Up at 6, had my coffee and fruit. While the kids and wife were still asleep I managed to put in some fresh oil after the initial flush and also added some new water with another flush. 2 flushes should hopefully clear out the system. If not, I've got another bottle ready to be used...

While sorting out the GTO, I had to quickly fix the Stagea (tail gate swap out due to rust) and then pick up some parts (GTO stuff) for the car. I found a wrecker who had parts 10 years old and he just wanted them gone...

So the funny thing is while in the work horse (Stag) I was cruising down the road and spotted 2x GTOs on the road! In my hood! So the wife quickly tool some photos for me and they were the same 2 people who attended our last 4GT get together near Doncaster.

Must be a sign! f212a0767777e699605c3beb61822961.jpg20f6fd146ce6cf37160b7da469542b2d.jpg91ed929ea2d491a8f9bbb77778cccea7.jpg08a8cbba199d48f8d45a63b4e5b3922e.jpg8803c640b04d9085bf87be1d81430258.jpg3299ffacbcab9ace79f0b15e2bed06b4.jpga14d84873ad7d25aff68d5f382774a18.jpgde13bad838ed583395efcc3b152d64d4.jpgab35184f83cce6373f014f1ca6e928f8.jpg

#338268 4g93t head gasket options

so to sum up it's really a detonation issue not the head studs.

mine is just about ready for more punishment so i guess we'll see how much they can take.

almost there...
wastegate in
injectors where pretty much maxed out at 24-26 psi so installed some 1600cc.
boost pushed to 30psi and fuel pump is now maxed out.
pulled tank and pumps out last night and replaced with 460.
back in tonight and dyno tomorrow... track shake down next week...

no wastegate -> no fun when your bouncing off the 30psi boost cut. lol

so BOV trying to control the boost ATM

Manual FWD

Cant wait to see the 1st drive video, that borg warner looks the goods!

yeah waiting on the misses to get me a better camera as the phone can't do the job in low light :(

Took it out before to get an idea on the boost response which is interesting as it has no wastegate. ;)

30psi boost cut in the ecu is taking care of boost control duty ATM. lol

#310201 Electronic Valvetrain

Posted by bj on 26 November 2014 - 12:09 AM

The weight of the valve and hence the amount of power/energy to accelerate and decelerate.

Compare it to a injector which have been around for a long time and pretty well optimized.

Basically the same concept but with a much lighter valve and they only manage 1mS (approx) open/close times.

now you have 10-100x the weight hanging off the solenoid which would make for a very slow valve.

So you could try just run more current through your solenoid...

but for your typical peak/hold injector of 4 amps you would be somewhere around the 40-400 amps PER valve.

Then you have the problem of slowing the valve, as fuel injects have a liquid between the seat and valve they can pretty much just hit them together as it acts as a lubricant/buffer(my thoughts)

Try that on a head and you'll damage the valve and/or seat.

then you have the problem of distance.....................................

injector only has to move in the order of 1mm but your intake/exhaust will need to move more like 10x that distance.

solenoid force drops off exponentially with distance sooooo.

yet another factor complicating matters :)

Just off the top of my head but probably many more this to overcome.

Nothing is impossible :)

Branko  For those that don't know
Large nuts......

I like the way the back tyres start to get dragged when the fronts warm up :)
also you can hear the clutch slipping in the top end, so i changed the clutch.
Next run at calder i broke one of the half shafts(drive shaft) :(
