evo 1-3 /gsr octane sensor

20 March 2012 - 03:42 AM

so i was looking over the gsr ecu pinout diagrams the other day and noticed one labeled octane sensor. now the description was intank octane sensor for the emergency use of less then 98 ron fuel. and it got me thinking how hard/ easy would it be to change this sensor out for an eflex sensor for use with either a chiped or aftermarket ecu.

the sensor supposedly retards timing when lower quaility fuel is used to safely get you home. now obviously changing this sensor would be so that you could run pump available e85 which is never true e85. this would be handy istead of having to buy barreled e85 you could just use pump gas.

what are your thoughts on this. since the section of the forum has been alil quiet of late.

cas oring

11 March 2012 - 07:29 AM

ok so i've chenged the oring in this motor of mine a few time now just using std replacements from my oring kit now it was fine until i decided to try and adjust the timeing and now it's leaking again! are the mitsu genuine replacements a different size to those available in the kits? i don't want to go buy a genuine fork out the inflated price only to have the same issue. i know your suppose to change them every time you pull the unit didn't think there would be an issue with leaving it in and adjusting the timing

tips for geetting a turbo to spool faster

06 March 2012 - 07:12 AM

hey guys im looking for some tips to make my turboo spool just alil faster.

the turbo is i'm told an evo 3 big 16g. it is attached to a 4g93 and the exhaust manifold should be ported but can't confirm since i told my mechainc to do the swap and didn't get a chance to check before everything was bolted up. i will check when i do the awd conversion.

so as it stands by watching my boost guage from idle im starting to build boost by 3k and with foot flat to the floor see full boost 10psi about 5k maybe a touch later. exhaust is 3" from the dump back stock dump in use. and no boost tee or controller is being used (wastegate pressure only)

i have the car booked in for some power runs next tuesday so i should be able to supply a boost curve and power figure then. but before i get on the dyno i want the best from the car. i'll probably have a controller installed by that time to wind in some more boost safely.

so im open to peoples ideas to bring on boost quicker.
