Hello All,

I just bought myself some spare RVR's for a few reasons:
- I wanted to see if they would work as a family car -
Outcome: Might stick to a more modern car as a family vehicle.
- I wanted the drivetrains for some other projects
Outcome: Might be the go.. into a Lancer or Galant
- I thought having some spare 4G63 motors would come in handy
Outcome: 7 bolt engine being the issue.  Will have to start building Lancers..

So, my questions...

I have 2 HSG and 1 SSG.
2 are auto and 1 is manual.

My questions are:

1. Do the Manual and Autos vary in rear diff specs (ratios)?
2. Do the Manual and Autos have the same rear diff subframe (intercompatible)
3. Are the transfer cases the same?
4. Are the transmission mounts the same?
5. Is the rear end compatible with any other mitsubishi car? ie, VR4 / EVO / GSR
6. Are the front or rear axles compatible with any other Mitsubishi (VR4 / EVO etc).
7. What are the turbo specs for the Manual and Auto?  16G in all?

I would really like to know what options i have for these cars.
I think i could potentially build 1 RVR up to its former glory but will have to sacrifice the other 2as parts vehicle.

Specific thoughts:

1. Merge 2 RVR's into 1 good one.  Most likly keep a HSG alive by transferring a SSG engine and transmission into it.  Strip down the other HSG.
2. Use the other HSG floor pan into a lancer 3 door hatch (maybe)
3. Transfer the RVR drivetrain into a Galant VR4 (circuit car - Manual)
4. Transfer the RVR drivetrain into a Galant VR4 (drag car - Auto)
5. Transfer the RVR drivetrain into a Lancer GSR (street car - Auto)

Thanks in advance for feedback.!

1) yes, 4.1 to 4.9 roughly i believe

2) yes, interchangeable

3) i believe so but cant confirm 100%, i changed mine with the one that came with my manual box in my conversion

4) lower crossmember yes, tranny to chassis, no - one in their own

5) not sure

6) not sure

7) manual is TD05 16G from factory, auto is a smaller TD04 13G

SSG and HSG engines are different btw, and can come in 2 different head configurations ive heard with cam sensor locations and whatnot.

If you do end up having a spare manual loom through all this, ill be more than happy to tell you to shut up and take my money. Will hopefully get mine on the road...

Taz is pretty much on the ball and gearbox diff ratios seem to be answered, but rear diffs are -

1: SG auto = 3.545 SG and HSG (LSD on HSG) manual = 3.909, SSG and HSG  auto = 3.307, ?SSG manual? (this is interesting) I can't confirm what flavour Chris's started life as, but he has a rear of 3.545.

5: I don't believe so, but check with Mo, he will probably know.

6: As above.

Hope this might help ;-)

Taz has had a C%#T of a time doing the auto to manual conversion. There are at least 3 different flavours of CAS and looms, as Taz has mentioned, HSG to SSG.

HSG has a 6 bolt style of cam sensor as well as one on the crank, (I realise it might not be the same as 6 bolt, but it has the same look) SSG has cam and crank sensors on the front of the engine........and an SG has the same cam sensor as an Evo 3 an no crank sensor as far as I've seen.

Here are the cars in question. Need to decide what to do with the parts. 0ef27db1018f5e74a2f0f6d1796e3c0e.jpg573f40c2b794ce1458f1c66906fa6092.jpg42d99de0e746d4891475daa2ec8e5254.jpga6fc11fbd543ec49136f2e91a6ebfcd7.jpg28be06efc5e541323b9706d17183865d.jpg

That sheet is very helpful.

So... has the RVR 3.307 ratio ever been tested down the drag strip or around the track?

I'm wondering if this would help my VR4 with more legs down the track....

So does anyone know if an rvr rear diff fits a gsr? I'm trying to gather info on auto swapping my gsr and would like to know if I can use an rvr rear diff.

I would think so as long as the ratios line up.
GSR Lancer- JE-73-VO, 11.701@125mph, 1.79 60" and getting faster. No:3 conrod now orbiting the moon.

Ratios should be fine as I'm planning on using auto rvr gearbox/rear diff.

Just trying to confirm that I can just swap in the rvr rear diff without needing to mod anything.
