Under the car now replacing my drive belt but how come the tensioner pulley is bottomed out leaving the belt loose? Loosening the top tensioner bolt to push the pulley down to tighten the belt but its at the bottom now and wont go any further. What am I forgetting? I have the correct belt (5PK1135) and even put the old one back on but still the same thing...

Have you undone the nut on the side of the pulley?

^ hehehe ^

So Im not getting the obvious squealing and squeezing noise that comes with a loose belt but it does give a "...kkkkkkkkkkkkkk..." sort of noise if you know what I mean? Did I over tighten something along the way?

Is the tensioner pulley actually meant to spin with the belt like the other pulleys? I'm thinking not...but I gotta ask

Something is not right there. And I think should invest in some degreaser.😝

At first glance it looks like the tensioner pulley is not lined up with the rest of the pulleys, meaning that the top edge of it is spinning on the inside of the belt and not on the outside edge. Hence why it's shaving the belt a millimetre at a time. I could be wrong but that's what I gathered from a quick look...
