Hi,

Just wanted to know if anyone has done this or not on the E3? As I believe the actual part in the head where the egr actuator banjo fits in, is blocked off anyway.

Is it just a simple removal of all the vacuum fittings and the actuator, then just cover the pipe in the intake with a plug?

Cheers

Stan

Ok also just found out some info on other forums:

I asked an opinion about this issue to the guys at evo123.net and there's different takes over there too. I've always thought it was EGR but could never make sense of the return being plugged before the throttle plate, your explanation seems the only one to make sense, especially since the port is actually plugged by the fake banjo bolt. It appears it was an attempt at a rudimentary anti-lag system built in for homologation reasons only (Evo being designed to compete in Rallies) and then plugged on the production vehicles. It's always good to learn new things. At least it's clear that Evo III IM have the port (whatever it is).

Ive just pulled the valve out and blocked the hole with a bolt and some copper washers. Leave the sensor plugged in though cos i think it throws a code if you unplug it

Not sure if they make them for early models, but I know they make an egr block off plate for the later models.

You mean the o2 sensor in the exhaust manifold?

No...the egr valve ^ and the sensor that works with it. Has nothing to do with o2 sensor.

Only the 7 and up had the egr valve on the intake manifold, I would be surprised if the e1-3 had it as well and Mitsu decided not to put one on the E4-6.

Or are we talking about the sas (secondary air system) that runs from the 2 banjo bolts in the exhaust manifold to just before the throttle body on the upper intercooler pipe?

There's a guide on evolutionm that refers to the ct9a's with egr and what's needed to remove it.
Unsure whether it would be similar to the e3 though

Why remove it? Only reason i can see is to run a sheet metal intake or to use the ecu switching for something else.
egr doest affect performance and will reduce fuel economy

Wouldnt keeping it INCREASE fuel economy? ?

They are a pain in the ass in the later evos ejackulator. They soot and carbon up the intake, i bet fuel economy would be identical not running it but with a cleaned inlet manifold.
