That's weird. Maybe you'd have to get an adaptor made to attach the oem tps to? Surely a tps that got a wire less would need an aftermarket ecu to run right?
Not really, it came from the factory like that remember.
TPS is just a potentiometer on our cars. At it's most basic level, it requires only +5VDC & GND as inputs and throttle signal (0-5V) output.
Nissans have 3 & 4 wire TPS between the same engine on different models and the fourth wire is a throttle home switch.
I can't recall what the fourth wire is on VR4's though.

You need a home switch for the ecu to know it needs to idle. I think it uses it for fuel cut on decel as well.

It only has one wire, so its earthed. The wire in the tps plug that doesnt have a corresponding pin in tps needs to be earthed when you are closed throttle. Or just get a 4 pin tps as it is built in

What Jack said. With the extra wire, you want it to be earthed on zero throttle. You could rig up a microswitch on your throttle body to do this if you can't retrofit an idle switch from an older setup.

1 - Green/Yellow (+5v Sensor Power)
2 - Brown/Red (TPS output voltage)
3 - Yellow/Red (IPS switch)
4 - Black (Ground)
1G 4G63T TPS
1 - Green/Red (+5v Sensor Power)
2 - Green/White (TPS output voltage)
3 - NC
4 - Green/Black (Ground)
So... get a 4 pin tps and the one you havent connected is the idle switch
