For some reason at 31 years of age, instead of doing the normal thing and buying a shiny new car, and after already owning 3 previously, all i really wanted was a clean and quick Mitsubishi rvr hypergear....??!

Why? They're weird ... You can fold the seats down into a bed, they've got a 4wd spare tyre set-up, they've got a funky looking body kit, Recaro's... and they come with a bonus evo 3 setup! what else do you need??
Plus i can chuck my surfboard, skateboard, tools and baby seat all together comfortably.

I picked it up a month ago from a guy in Toowoomba that owns 2 more, and this one was on the back burner collecting dust.

It was pretty rough when i bought it, the paint had a fair bit few scratches, dodgy tint, black paint was faded, air con bits missing, it needed a full service and lube, the brakes where rough, missing speakers, and the 3 inch canon was getting to me.

However, the body was really straight, it already had decent wheels and lowered rsr suspension, the interior was clean and the engine had been rebuilt recently.
Plus, it went pretty hard.... 2.5" piping, 3" exhaust, bigger intercooler, walbro 255, and running 18psi. Apparently it was tuned to around 300hp on 20psi in FWD... Based on how well it goes, it seems fairly legit.

So this is the story over the last month... Ive done a fair bit of work on the car whilst ive been off from work, including:

Alot of black and white paint work
Full service, lube, brakes etc
Fresh set of globes
Air-con set up again
tinted windows all round
New evo4 SRS Momo steering
changed the droning canon for a much quieter 3" setup
interior steam clean and detail

The black and white paint work idea stems from the Evo X style front bar. Ive actually done it before with my previous white hypergear and obviously liked it so much i thought id do it again. It stands out like dogs balls anyway, so why not make it stand out some more ;)

This was the n/a hypergear i picked all the good bits from.... entire body kit, seats, interior bits, air con pieces... etc...etc....

Close up and personal.... thought the old JDM Style mirror was better on than off this time... Thoughts?

I could only fit the large H4 style (quieter) muffler near the middle of the rear end... In case you're wondering why its over there

More than enough room for boards and babies ;)

Fresh interior, just got to sort the speakers. That evo4 wheel changes everything

Very nice mate, looks really clean. You're right - the EVO4 wheel sets the interior off. I'm not a fan of the Jap style mirror on the fender, but I've never really been keen on them regardless of the type of car they're on. Makes the car look a bit unbalanced and they're an odd shape IMO.

Yeah last one I pulled it off, but I changed my mind this time. Something about it suits the car with the body kit and odd shape.

Cheers

I to love the Black/white paint scheme .. Keep the Pics coming! Makes me even more motivated to get mine on the road! (the $1500ish for permit/inspection/stamp duty/rego isn't all that appealing though) Have to take the bad with the good I guess..

Ps. Did you have any trouble getting the original Steering wheel off? I can not for the life of me wrangle it off!..

Thanks guys. Yes it took a bit to get it off... just pull it as hard as you can going from left hand to right hand, over and over. Other than that there's a tool at super cheap you can buy for $20 to do it for you.

Thanks mate. It can be done trust me. You've honest got to beat it as hard as you can going from left to right left to right! Otherwise grab that tool at Supercheap. Definately worth it, ive always hated the original wheel. Evo4 is a straight swap.... beautaaarful!!

Under the bonnet is not as pretty, needs a bit of love

Had to change my wheels recently... got some second hand 18x8's with 90% tread for cheap, but they were very scrathed in typical silver colour, so they got the ol' black treatement

Ripped off the old chrome mirror covers and was fortunate enough to do a swap with a mate of mine for his rear tyre cover from a series II RVR... Very cool.

So running 18psi all day every day over the last year resulted in daylight from one side of the block to the other.... The result will now be a forged item to stop this happening again
