Some fabrication of brackets to support the dry ice intercooler.

I'll clean them up later. Running short on time. Tow truck scheduled to arrive soon! 8e0b7bc5654922116f1d35dd728509d9.jpgcf39bba7575ca32f7cbafe213f15e8ec.jpg792acbfab7ae95f02c2e485522edebe2.jpg2b650a51090001917d4345a753280d17.jpged4d0171f5ed1b0658611cc3fd2ac0f6.jpg8f97e1407b3d5e2a252f4e6dc210f089.jpg24112107aef7e538f8a059b16bce6ce1.jpge5b5bb810624889d2f7bc200be4c8dab.jpgca32f7aaa7c512ddf368fab92216f3c4.jpg

Making things happen.

I had the car towed to a workshop and whilst I jigged, my mate Gerardo from GForce race solutions tigged.

It worked well as I handed him parts, I moved onto the next and he welded. I refitted and passed him next parts for welding and repeat until we got 90% done then called it a day... 232b742eb76a08b464fe222e0d8446b0.jpg3866cae784f13d44b8b4cc9f137d5265.jpg34b90d018070dc594356435fbee6bdec.jpg3d4a8ca5cc22bff483cd7d25ce3a98c6.jpgf29fe69f3d4d76332417e55f57c5bed5.jpg7dd10e2988215fa4264b5cad83becf10.jpgd9ff709f9c404d86191ba0797159eb77.jpg949c77aca4c5da0ee254a7e37922862b.jpgb8e63399b2b02627378a5bb2f2f93379.jpg

Always a pleassure to click on your threads Baz but im curious, i know you run solid mounts but where is the give now that you are running those weld on clamps. Is the ice box rubber mounted and also the cooler.

Surely the motor has to flex a little bit?

The clamps actually have quite a bit of movement in them.

They are o-ring sealed with the ability to move inwards and outwards plus pivot in all angles.

Check out this video, pretty much the same thing... just a different brand.

I had a bit of time to work on her over the weekend.

Mostly related to getting the parts on required to finish off the dump pipe.

I'm planning to run a 3 inch exhaust. The engine pipe back has been purchased from another Galant VR4 owner down in Tasmania. I decided to keep my noisy 4 inch exhaust for the Drag spec VR4.

So the street spec one will be as silent as possible for street duties. It will have a bimodal valve to ensure it still gets the performance it needs when in race mode.

Photos attached.

Dummy trans used with actual transfer case + brace. Also alloy sump used but it will sit 10mm lower so need to determine transfer case clearance with custom girdle.

Dump will be 3.5 inch from the turbo and transition down to 3 inch at the sump.

It will have a y peice prior for race mode. Wastegate will be plumbed back.

A vibrant 3 layer flex pipe and v band clamps will be used in this system.

My old turbosmart 50mm gate will be utilised. d61669b9a84e825bbe1e325124eae7ce.jpg0340db89cadf57f2230cac4af8efe706.jpgf510393a55da75c76f9970d1e2dd8355.jpgaad89f5f37666078fe5e5b2c833dedce.jpg536a66a19cb55b1ce2cb5d6b2c4a8bf6.jpg7766b4992a7ffb078f6cf3c86dfc165b.jpga0bc6f3d855f744f61113d025b8a710c.jpgbddb71ed6c65a042572c01af982be76f.jpg1043036fd837e01916b4d1d981881b62.jpg

Very nice.  It looks like the Transfer Case brace doesn't leave you alot of clearance to your exhaust and exhaust to sump.

4G63 / FWD / East West / turbo at front design flaws....

Most drag cars get around this by exhaust out of front gaurd or bonnet.

Being a street car, I cant do this and keep it Street legal looking / sounding....

They have an important role.

1, save me time on doing boost leak testing.

2, reduces the amount of bracing I need for intercooler piping as they will never blow apart as pressure builds. I used to have brackets to hold pipes to the chassis or each other.

3, save me worrying about pin holes or wear and tear with silicone hoses.

The clamps seal via a larger oring / ferrule. They also allow for movement so think of a vband with an oring and some play. That's basically that these clamps do.

Im thinking of V-banding my (soon-to-be) stainless IC pipes and add silicone only at one or two spots to allow for movement.Would love the plazmaman ones, they are sexy as!

I don't think plazmaman make stainless versions. I know there are stainless vbands with orings but have nil movement.

That could work with solid engine mounted cars or as you said, flexible silicone before throttle body and after Turbo outlet. Intercooler and related piping can be solid mounted.

Why not go alloy?

So last week I finally managed to sort out the crank pulley to suit the vac pump and alternator being relocated back to the original location (front).

The goal was to retain the rubber dampening function and not go solid. It required the combination of an aftermarket Ross metal jacket pulley and some billet alloy.

Thanks to head spec for the work.

Just need some clearancing on the timing cover 0541b7e926cf4624d480146a55a6f205.jpg751f2ad5884f7064d35733e70cca79b2.jpgf460e457426b6978b65ced8d49125d6e.jpg0e079243b167ba6bc4b69586f2ae3992.jpgc29c2ffda4c66ffc6ca6fca56fa5c3f9.jpg2d29cd9e85fe8f83a1acace600621b4e.jpg722dd31afbc3b95b38943812177f4185.jpgd058c0fe34de1572286e269abb79594d.jpg

Some vac pump bracket modifications underway.
Oil filter housing will be changed to a Jspec one. Check out the donor engine...

Also took off another 5mm off the harmonic balancer a0e0593c0d8a6f44f453a86f09cff39e.jpg8cb9359ba8e9c1cfede2d79daf0f5d44.jpgdad3226f258980d07d08d8c07f36d679.jpgb6269ced8b954a99c993012c6adab541.jpg816535eb693a02c52b969f5d9b1f7104.jpg

Another session last week.

2 hours approx.

Random under car photos (car is on the hoist now)

Was planning to do exhaust fabrication but some unforeseen issues delayed this.

So I mounted the turbosmart oil pressure regulator and removed the custom airbag and air filter setup.

I'm looking at building it differently.

Also cut back the alternator wiring in prep for the rewire.

Random hoist shots also.

Also toolbox full of the stuff to be installed... b338a7bfa272d3e216a612f8d41f85f2.jpg9daa970be9b4e6081b919c98a1972700.jpg93f053946b3488c4e972ef80ba01db50.jpg92fde0d99e25649f4586a83b6de8377e.jpg7bbe659225aed0a5849117cdc90d35cf.jpg69fca52a605488df098c1eae08562236.jpg56f9c8a6b382a056338ebf27a78409c8.jpgc7e752535286377a9867c3656c7559cf.jpgdfec4fdd95c7e11d8f5e0283e862919c.jpg
